When Radar was born I became a new mom and although I'd known lots of babies and I'd read lots of stuff about babies, none of it really prepared me for my own baby. It's like most things in life - falling in love, making mistakes, being a mom - no matter how much you imagine it or read about it and no matter how much someone tells you - you still don't really get it until you live it.

An anonymous commenter noted that in 2009 Radar's blog featured 298 posts and in 2010 (so far) only 145 (this would be 146) and that I should resolve to make 2011 a better year. Good point you! Of course if I do make such a resolution and if that resolution suffers the fate of all of my other New Year's resolutions... well, then 2011 could indeed be a bleak blogging year. But in the spirit of the holidays, I'm going to remain optimistic and say that I do resolve to be a better blogger in 2011... perhaps creating some regular features and more regularly joining in on other fun blogger games!

I should really cut Radar some slack. It's true that he doesn't have any patience. He's a toddler. I've read in books about different tactics you can start to use to help toddler's build patience... like when he wants something, you hold up a finger and say, "wait one minute", then let him see you do something else and then give him what he's asking for. It's a way for him to see that I'm not ignoring his request and that he just has to wait a little bit and he'll get what he wants. Then you stretch that time out slowly... a few seconds at a time, until he's waiting a minute or two or three. Learning patience. Well - sounds good, but we're sort of stuck at the 5 to 10 second mark. He especially gets really pissed if he goes to the trouble of using his sweet little "pees" (please) and doesn't get what he wants immediately... I mean, why bother with 'please' if you just have to wait!

It seems like just yesterday I still lived in South Florida and Lali came to Barry University as a college freshman. But I guess it wasn't just yesterday. I suppose it was 7 or so years ago. It was also the first time that Lali and I had ever really lived in the same city. It was the first time I had a sister nearby. And all the time leading up to it, as well as the 16 year age difference between us, was like dust in the wind! We were sisters to the core and it was so much fun!!!
