Maybe in 7 years when I'm running late for work and rushing to get things ready in the morning... maybe after having woken Radar up 30 minutes earlier and being ready to walk out the door... maybe if I walked in his room and found this scene on his bed... well, then maybe I wouldn't think it was very sweet.

So the rash turned out to be a virus... you can't blame me for thinking it was an allergy though. It started on Radar's face and then it hit my face... it crawled down Radar's neck to his torso, then onto my chest and back. It then crawled all over his arms and legs as well - just as my rash was getting better. Allergy just made sense.

In case you think that I don't read the comments you leave... I absolutely do! I loved the story about the adopted Chinese twins whose adopted families gave them the same name and that they also found each other. I believe that one tops the freaky Radar/Hannah parallels!

Just like vampires can't see visions when werewolves are around, I guess Radar's visions get a bit cloudy when the Steelers are around.

Yes. This is the post I mentioned. The one I really, really wanted to post and the one that couldn’t be rushed.
And Yes. You read the title right.
I’m in love.
I’m not talking about a tawdry affair or a passing infatuation either.
I’m talking about a head over heals, love at first sight, fairytale kind of love!
When did this happen, you ask?
Why, it happened yesterday.
So now you’re thinking that either I’m kidding or exaggerating or that perhaps it is indeed a simple infatuation or tawdry affair.
I assure you – it is not!
I’m in love.
But let me back up a bit and explain in a little more depth.
It’s true that just two days ago I didn’t know that my new love even existed in this world. And it’s also true that it only took seeing one picture of this person to send me into a deep plunge off the cliff of no return. But the roots of this newfound love run so much deeper and that’s how I know it’s not just some passing infatuation!
It has a lot to do with how I’ve come to appreciate what ‘family’ means to me. I’m a big fan of the ‘traditional’ family… you know, the mom and dad with 2.4 kids, living in a two story suburban home with a white picket fence (dog and cat included)! Big fan! But obviously, I’m also a HUGE fan of the ‘non-traditional’ family… of adoption… of same-sex couples… and of course, of single moms!
My own non-traditional family has its quirks and dysfunctions, but it is also so very rich and beautiful. Tia Lali is a good example… she is my half-sister… she is 16 years my junior… she grew up with a different mother, in different cities and in a different time. None of that matters. She is every bit my sister, she is one of my very best friends and I love her through and through.
Then there’s Radar – obviously the very best example of what I’m talking about. I’m not married to his biological father – I don’t even know who he is! I chose half of Radar’s biology based on words I read on a screen, one audio interview I listened to and one (sort of fuzzy) picture of a little boy. That changes nothing! This gift that was made possible because a stranger decided to walk into a cryobank, is the most precious, beautiful and valuable gift of my life. Radar is my everything. I know that I’d love my son every bit as much if my circumstances had been more ‘traditional’… but the point is that I don’t love him one single atom less because they’re not.
But back to my point.
I’m in love!
And it has everything to do with my view that family can come in all shapes and sizes!
That is why, a couple of days ago, I went to a website called DSR (“Donor Sibling Registry”) and did a quick search using the ID# of Radar’s bio-dad. That is why my heart jumped and fluttered when I saw the results of that search… “Girl born Nov2008”. That is why I was blushing as I read a message from this little girl’s parents that said they were looking to connect with donor siblings. That is why I wrote back immediately and started a dialogue with this family from Long Island, NY. And that is why, when I got these pictures yesterday morning…
I FELL MADLY IN LOVE
WITH A LITTLE GIRL NAMED HANNAH!!!!!!

I'm quickly typing this from my big, cozy bed on the 7th floor of the Sheraton Suites in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
